Editorial Services for Wherever You Are in Your Writing Journey

What I
do...

Writing a novel is a strange and ever-changing process. I'd love to claim I make it simple, but I don't. I don't think anyone can. What I do is offer services that allow you to focus on writing. You don't need to be a one-man writing, editing, and beta-reading machine. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Editorial Services

All of my services are customizable. If you aren't sure which would best suit your project, please reach out! I offer free, 30-minute discovery calls to all potential clients. Book one now!

All projects include a one-paged sample edit, a discovery call, and a debrief upon project completion. Prices are project-specific. Please reach out for more information.

Manuscript Critique

holistic assessment for the fresh manuscript

A manuscript critique is a great choice for writers who know their novel needs something but aren't sure what. I'll review your current draft while keeping a careful eye out for your novel's strengths, weak spots, and potential areas of improvement. A manuscript critique will give you a starting point for your revision process. You'll leave with a complete editorial letter, a debrief call with me, and detailed actionable steps to help your novel reach its full potential.

Developmental Editing

big-picture editing for any stage of the writing process

Developmental editing is best for writers who are still in the early stages of revising. Developmental edits often lead to larger, structural changes, so one should be done before micro-level editing services such as line editing or copy editing. I deep-dive into your novel's world, looking at theme, plot, characters, pacing, voice, and everything else that makes up a novel. As I move through your work, I'll leave in-the-margin feedback to give you insight on potential readers' experiences. I also provide end-of-chapter reports with summary feedback, suggestions, and any other thoughts. The developmental edit also comes with the editorial report: 10-15 pages of overall feedback and suggestions.

Line Editing

deep, intensive feedback for solidified stories

Line editing is a sentence-level editing service best for writers who've already made their big-picture changes and want to elevate their readers' experience by perfecting the writing, itself. I go line-by-line to ensure each sentence is pulling its own weight in the novel. I provide suggestions to sharpen paragraphs, trim unnecessary purple prose, and reword sentences in clearer, concise ways. This is not a proofreading service, but I will correct any glaring errors. The line edit includes in-the-margin feedback and observations, 1-2 pages detailing the editor's findings, and a copy of your marked-up manuscript.

The Process

When you work me, you can expect...

01

The Discovery Call

The 100% free discovery call is where I truly get to know you and your novel. I'll learn about your goals, your concerns, and what you're hoping for from your edit.

02

The Sample Edit

I want to make sure we're a good fit for one another. In an effort to do this, I provide all clients a free one-paged sample edit upon request. If you like what you see, I'll finalize our agreement and get started!

03

The Project

Depending on your (and your novel's) needs, it may take me anywhere from 4-8 weeks to complete an edit. I prioritize quality over speed every single time. During this time, I'll keep you updated, and I welcome any questions you have that may come up.

04

The Debrief

When I've finished the edit, I'll send the editorial report and in-line comments. I'll give you 1-2 weeks to process the feedback before scheduling a debrief session. I'll walk you through my findings and suggestions and give you the opportunity ask any questions you may have.

After an edit, I consider my clients part of the family. I welcome updates on your novel, questions that come up, or even just a hello in my inbox!
